How to Treat Liver Spots on Your Skin

Liver spots are small, pesky spots on the skin which appear on parts of us that are exposed to the sunlight often. These spots are also known as a condition called solar lentigo, or even referred to as age spots because of how they grow. They can be embarrassing to have and even sometimes hard to avoid. However, learning how to treat liver spots on your skin can help you feel confident in your body and not worry about exposing your skin.

What Are Liver Spots?

As already mentioned, liver spots are commonly known as age spots, and the medical term given to them is solar lentigo. Liver spots look brown or tan and appear on the skin in many places. As you grow older, you’re more likely to develop liver spots on your skin. They can appear anywhere on the face, hands, arms, legs, and any other part of your body that’s exposed to the sun.

Liver spots are actually very common, and they are a growing condition. Usually, adults who are aging and have fair skin are more prone to developing them. Hyperpigmentation is similar to liver spots, and oftentimes liver spots are not harmful or cancerous at all as they only develop on the top layer of the skin. However, if you think that your spots are abnormal or are altering, be sure to check with your doctor just in case.

Liver spots result from two main factors: aging, and overexposure to the sun. While we can’t necessarily control aging or even how much we are in the sunlight, we can certainly take precautions to help us shield against developing them or try to remove them if they’ve already developed on our skin.

Combatting Liver Spots

Imagine your skin without any spots- just even and smooth all around. You can achieve this by trying several things. Firstly, if you know that you’ll be in the sun often, then consider using natural sunscreen to protect against the sun’s rays. The sun is one of the main reasons that liver spots develop, so the less you have of it, then fewer spots you’ll have.
